The New York office of the Nomad Editing Company continues its expansion this fall with the signing of new Editor/Partner Amanda Moreau to the team. Moreau is the most recent addition to the roster along with Editor/Partners Jim Ulbrich, Adam Schwartz, Jai Shukla, and long-time staff Editor Tyler Peck. Jennifer Lederman, EP/Partner, joined the company earlier this year.

Moreau fell in love with art movies as a kid and dreamed of becoming a filmmaker. Collaborative by nature, she is a storyteller and loves the challenge of navigating in and out of a narrative. “Finding the right creative solution is like putting together a large puzzle with many pieces. My editing style is almost a hybrid. I love infusing my emotional sensibility with punctuated, hard-hitting cuts,” she claims. She is also an avid music/record collector and admits, “I love setting a mood for a piece through sound. I have great respect and love for sound design and the art of making my own sound scapes.”
Lederman agrees with Moreau and adds, “She has a very unique approach to every spot that allows her to take command of the room and deliver a spot that is beyond the client’s expectations.”
Moreau helped launch the New York office of Beast, where she gained 10 years of experience as a Senior Editor. She has worked with leading brands including Reebok, Garnier, Duke Energy, IKEA and Champs. However, it was at Hunter College/CUNY under Roy DeCarava, where her passion for editing was first kindled. “I have a very intense work ethic and can lose myself in the details for hours. I learned very quickly, I have the right temperament for editing,” she says.
"I’ve been a fan of Amanda’s work for years,” confesses Lederman. “I’d occasionally search for her new spots just to see what she was up to -- I think I was her first groupie!” When they did eventually meet, Lederman knew that she wanted to work with Moreau. “She has all the attributes of a quality Editor: intuition, creativity, and versatility, plus she truly loves her craft,” she adds. “It’s so exciting to finally team up with her at Nomad!”
Nomad’s reputation and scale were deciding factors for Moreau. “I joined Nomad because ultimately I want to belong to a smaller, artistic community with a strong focus on the creative culture. This type of tight-knit community is one of the most valuable things you can have in an edit house. We constantly share our work as we are cutting and respect each other’s opinions.”
According to Nomad Partner Glenn Martin: “Amanda’s editorial expertise is her greatest attribute. She is a perfect addition because of her versatility which includes a broad range from storytelling to beauty to comedy.”
With the new team in place, bigger changes are on the horizon. Nomad is preparing to begin construction on a larger space just up the street with a move scheduled in early 2017. “Our new location will have more edit rooms and finishing suites for Flame and After Effects. Not to mention other fun distractions like a custom bar, darts and ping pong!” adds Lederman.
