The Challenge
Mars coffee brand Alterra was falling a bit flat in the office space. Its identity was being diluted across multiple variants, and as a result the product was suffering from a quality and freshness perception. Time for an energy boost.

The Insight
Video blogging sessions with office workers revealed they just wanted a quality cup of coffee, but with numerous variants available, it was hard to work out the difference between them all. They wanted something honest and easy to navigate for the modern workplace environment.

The Idea
We wanted to give people the confidence and encouragement to try new blends. We introduced simple colour coding and designed over 370 icons to create a confident and intuitive navigation system. Bright and bold colours served to attract people to the coffee machine – encouraging impromptu conversations and a sense of community.
