ABOUT
The Health & Wellbeing Series is a collection of abstract paintings that explores the relationship between emotional balance, mental clarity and self-connection. The series also reflects my personal exploration of creativity as a grounding practice during periods of change and growth. The work is rooted in the belief that visual art can act as a form of quiet therapy, offering moments of reflection, calm and emotional release within everyday environments.
Title of work in order of appearance:
1. Receiving
2. Gateway
3. A Woman's Current
4. Guided by the Waves
5. Submit
6. Flourish
Through layered textures created using spackling, intuitive mark-making with acrylic paint, and expressive yet grounding colour palettes, each piece responds to a different aspect of wellbeing. Themes such as resilience, inner strength, vulnerability, balance and personal growth emerge through a fluid and instinctive creative process, where emotion and movement guide both composition and surface detail.
The series has been developed with wellbeing-focused spaces in mind — including fitness and wellness environments, therapy settings, creative workspaces and homes that prioritise mindfulness and self-care. Each painting is intended to create a visual moment of pause within busy surroundings, encouraging stillness and supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing.
The project consists of six original works in varying scales, including large statement pieces measuring up to 100cm x 100cm. While unified through texture and tone, each artwork remains open to interpretation, inviting viewers to connect with their own emotional landscape and personal experiences.
Through this body of work, I explore how abstract art can positively influence shared spaces while encouraging broader conversations around mental health, balance and holistic wellbeing.
