THE BRIEF:
Create a wall art print design based on current trends and colour schemes.

THE APPROACH:
I based my research and initial mood-board on the ‘clarity’ trend/colour palette and ‘abstract nature’ theme.

The clarity trend reflects ‘structure’ and materials with purity and integrity, such as glass and metal, with endless recycling potential and sustainability - opposing limited life. I combined this trend with the ‘abstract nature’ theme and found beautiful architectural effects within nature. Lovely flowing lines within shells and mushrooms and gorgeous textures.

I explored designs to replicate images from my mood-board using hand-painting techniques with household items such as handmade stamps made from card and string; bubble wrap and other materials that would have otherwise been recycled.

I scanned the best results to take the individual elements into photoshop to apply repeat patterns and to apply different colour schemes, adjusting the colours within photoshop where needed to achieve the right colour combination.

THE RESULT:
The finished design reflected the abstract nature theme and the natural structure of mushrooms to create a modern and contemporary design, on trend.
