An Interview With Nayaab Tania

Published by

Tell us a bit about yourself?

My names Nayaab Tania, I'm 21 years old and a Stylist/Director based in London.

Most challenging job to date?

It would have to be the Adidas x Bape Campaign that I styled. I felt the pressure on this shoot as it was probably one of the most hyped collaborations of 2016.

You have worked with our very own Hamish Stephenson on a number of photoshoots, what works so well about this collab?

Me and Hamish work well together because we both have a similar aesthetic and we understand each others direction. We are also the same age which is nice because usually I'm always booked on a job with someone that's 5/6 years older than me.

If you could give one piece of advice to emerging stylists, what would it be?

Nothing comes easy. Always make sure you have some sort of secure income whilst starting out, I did free work for 8 months before I got any credit or recognition for my work. Clients that currently book me on a weekly basis now ignored my emails when I first started out.

What does the term visual conversation mean to you?

Visual conversation means a story flowing organically, I like creating a narrative with my work and having substance. I direct as well as style, so I always make sure each element compliments one another. So to me this is about the overall creative process, and what that process depicts.
