ABOUT

Audi at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Wearable and virtual reality tech charge fan experience at the event

Problem
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world – a unique weekend that brings together a heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport ‘royalty’ to create the largest car culture event. Audi set out to immerse car fans in a ground-breaking experience at the festival using mobile and wearable technologies to showcase Audi’s range of cars.

The challenge was three fold:
- How to create excitement pre-event to generate buzz about Audi’s presence
- How to increase footfall to the stand, engagement with the product and generate increased leads during the event
- How to extend the event to customers & fans who wouldn’t be attending

Solution
Audi cars are synonymous with cutting-edge technology and Somo came up with a cohesive plan that would engage fans at the event and those following online by weaving together the digital and physical worlds. To achieve this Somo created an exciting holistic, connected experience through the use of Oculus Rift, Google Glass, digital lecterns, and a range of other wearable and mobile applications. These products not only generated excitement and buzz about the cars but allowed Audi to capture leads for potential Audi owners.
