In this project I undertook a challenge to see what I could create using Modo and photoshop. I wanted to create something organic in both shape and texture. Jellyfish were perfect. They're complex and multi-layered, which made it difficult to replicate the way light travels through them. The image was featured as a double page spread in 3D Artist and was great fun to do.
3dArtist magazine Editor Chris had this to say about the image. 'A very beautiful image indeed, James has perfectly captured the challenging translucent look of the jellyfish.' Following the feature the image won a 3D Total Excellence Award, as well as editors choice on CGsociety.
