ABOUT

As part of the redesign of the museum's outdoor area, a series of illustrations mounted on metal steles will bring eleven millennia of landscape and cultural history to life. Excavation plans and aerial photographs have been used to create meticulous images of life, with reconstructions of landscapes and houses typical of the region.

The detailed illustrations show common activities and occupations of each cultural period, such as hunting, fishing, butchering, harvesting, ploughing, forging, casting, weaving and trading.

They also show buildings typical of the period. The half-covered roof, usually in isometric view, gives a view into every corner of the dwelling. This gives an overview of the construction and the various interior spaces. The characteristic furnishings (fireplaces, tools, storage, etc.) illustrate the way of life of the inhabitants and show details of the respective period.

The different periods have been arranged according to a concept with different main colours (brown, green, bronze, blue, red).
