ABOUT
My work is based on topography which is the arrangement of natural and physical features of an area. I take photographs of man-made environments and I add to them, by placing objects that were not originally there with the use of Photoshop. Through this process the edited photographs contain aspects of illusion.
My images can be regarded as uncanny, reflecting Sigmund Freud’s notion that, ‘…the uncanny is that species of the frightening that goes back to what was once well known and had long been familiar’ (Freud, p.124).
The fact that instead of just taking a photograph, I take two separate ones, the one of an object and the other of an empty space and then bringing them together through Photoshop, makes my photographs more sculptural.
