About me

I have recently graduated from Leeds Met University, with a
degree in Music Technology BSc (2:2) and I am currently working at
Countesthorpe College in the Music department on a casual
basis. I am looking to expand my
experience and knowledge by working in education, and I feel that this
position at Countesthorpe College would help me achieve this.

During my time at Leeds Met I have gained an
understanding of the effect that computing and electronic technologies
have had on the music and sound production industries

During the 3 years at University I have completed
a broad range of technical as well as study related skills. These include:

Audio Recording Techniques
Computer based compositions
Professional skills for music technology
Music systems and digital audio.
Audio Production

As part of my final degree year, I have studied
with practical experience in music and sound synthesis, production
analysis, creative music skills, and audio recording techniques.

In addition, individual based projects were worked
on together with practical group projects. This included numerous presentations and an end of
year show.
For part of my project I produced promotional
press packs for unsigned artists. This
included recording tracks, interviews, artwork, photos and reviews.

During my final year, experience was also gained
working with young people with learning disabilities and hearing and
visual impairment, teaching them basic music technology
skills. This I found worthwhile and
extremely rewarding.

I enjoyed my time at University, particularly the
degree I studied, and I am now finding the experience of working in my
chosen field very rewarding.

I feel I have been very fortunate to have been
given the opportunity to work at Countesthorpe College and I am very
grateful. Although I don't have any
teaching experience, I am confident that I can learn some of the
techniques from my colleagues and in the future would like to take on a
PCGE course.

I believe I have worked hard in the Department
over the last 3 months and I have thoroughly enjoyed this time during
which I have overhauled the studio making it fully compatible for multi
track recordings. I have researched and replaced microphones suitable
for professional recordings and repaired some of the
equipment. I would welcome the
opportunity to further develop this area

I have been able to pass some of my expertise on
to the students and feel that I have a lot more to give.

I am very capable of working to given deadlines,
and on my own initiative as well as working with others. I am very enthusiastic about my subject area and I
feel I can give a lot to Countesthorpe College.
