About me

I have previously worked for Newsquest Media Group (for almost 10 years) - the second largest local/regional newspaper publisher in the UK.

I helped set up & maintain the internet operation side of the business, which consisted of the launch of a large group of local newspaper websites & an e-commerce online shopping web site. I was responsible for the overall marketing of the web sites which included online marketing, business development (securing additional revenue streams, partnership deals), web site development, site navigation & design. I have knowledege of PPC, affiliate schemes, Google Adwords etc and a working knowledge of HTML & basic Javascript.

One of my main functions within this role was to increase the traffic to the web sites. This was achieved through search engine optimisation, link building and linking structures, in paper promotions & general promotion of the brand to increase and promote brand awareness.

I have experience in web analysis tools including Web Ababus and Hitbox.

From these web analysis tools I was able to gain valuable information on

site visits, user patterns, user interaction and general site navigation data. This information was then used to constantly update and 'freshen' the site to enhance the 'user' experience and encourage 'repeat visits'.

I was also responsible for the creation and maintenance of all national advertising online campaigns including banner, sky, MPU and rich media creatives across the network of the Newsquest portfolio which consists of well over 120 web sites. I also had responsibility for effectively targetting all ad campaigns, the calculation of infantry and click through rates across the Newsquest Network. This was achieved through the 247Realmedia 'Open Adstream' software which I had sole responsibility for.

I have also worked within a more general marketing environment within the regional/local newspaper/magazine & publishing industry. My experience has included direct marketing & target marketing, postal sector analysis, research projects including questionaires. I also have experience in Geo-demographic databases (MOSAIC), TGI & client analysis/research tools including 'SNAP'.I was also responsible for training the sales staff & managers on how to use the internet as an effective marketing tool & how best to sell the package of both newspaper & internet advertising space.

Throughout my career to date I have worked with & presented to all levels of people from Sales Staff to Board level /Senior Managers & Directors & feel that this experience & ability to communicate at all levels is extremely important. I have also a broad experience of technical issues regarding I.T & have on many occassions been the link between clients & technical staff to ensure both sides are clear on what the brief consists of & that the end product is what is expected. I am also very keen to learn new skills & would embrace the chance to prove this.
