About me

Since March 2005 I have been employed by a B2B publisher working on technology books and market reports. My role is primarily project management including title research, proposal writing and author commissioning. I am also responsible for managing the production schedule including freelance copy editors, typesetters and proofreaders. This demands excellent organisation skills. I must be able to prioritise effectively and coordinate queries to ensure smooth transition through the production process.

Trained as an on-screen copy editor and a regular user of InDesign CS2, I am a confident and capable production editor able to layout and copy shape at speed. I am happy to put in extra time to ensure a job is done well. Liasing with freelance copy editors and proofreaders is part of my every day role and I am confident articulating what I expect from them and managing their concerns.

In my current role I also act as the main point of contact between the publishing team and the marketing team. This communication is very important for ensuring that the website is kept up to date, that titles are correctly represented online and that the marketing team is aware of any alterations in publication date. I have written copy for marketing brochures and the website.

After over two years with my current company, I am looking for a new challenge and I am keen for my career to progress in an editorial capacity in consumer book publishing.
