ABOUT

> Interested in the things that transcend our individual differences, by exaggerating the similarities. The base image is created first as a photograph, and then digitally reworked. It has a blown-out, 'beyond human' quality. In contrast, the graphic energy lines 'ping out' which appear to sit above the portrait and express the things that rise above an individual. Printing the image onto quality birch ply gives it the sense of having 'fallen' onto the surface, as it softens and embeds, lending it a timeless, authentic quality. The work utilises modern techniques to reinterpret long held belief systems. Pushing the boundaries of digital and commercial techniques then regrounding them, by using the integrity of wood, back into the natural world.
