The aim of this project was to build a frictionless mobile payments service for artisan coffee shop chain Harris + Hoole, that genuinely made their customers’ day easier. Harris + Hoole approached ribot to launch the seamless mobile payment experience. ribot had to ensure the payment process integrated seamlessly within the mobile app, and blended with the physical experience in Harris + Hoole stores, there are now over 46 stores throughout the UK. The app allows customers to customise their coffee order, check in on arrival and includes a digital loyalty card.

The Harris + Hoole app has revolutionised the in-store payments process, seamlessly integrating with the till, CRM and payment gateway to create an effortless transaction experience for customers. Customers can pay for coffee and food from their mobile app, without having to show or scan their mobile. Enter any H+H and check in with the app (automated check-in about to roll out in Q1 2016), walk up to the counter and say “hello”. The barista will already have seen you appear on their till, and they’ll already know your name, usual coffee and balance. This means that - after greeting you personally - more time can be spent having a nice little chat while your usual is prepared to perfection. Check in, confirm your usual with a ‘yes’, confirm you want to pay by the app with a nod or a yes to the barista, and that’s it! The H+H App has had over a quarter of a million check-ins by customers, and in some shops drives over 40% of orders. The percentage of customers using the H+H mobile payments service far surpassed that of competitor Starbucks, who set the industry standard (who are currently at 21%).
