LEAGAS DELANEY TELLS THE STORY OF PENFOLDS GRANGE IN A 3-MINUTE FILM NARRATED BY RUSSELL CROWE

To symbolically coincide with the new vintage release of Grange (2011), Leagas Delaney London has created a short film that tells the extraordinary story of Max Schubert – Penfolds Chief Winemaker for 27 years and the creator of its most iconic wine.

Narrated by Russell Crowe and directed by Nic Benns of Momoco, the film is an epic tale of bravery and secrecy shot in a 1950s film noir style. It depicts the determination of one man who risked everything in pursuit of perfection and captures Max’s vision, the setbacks and, ultimately, the achievement of making ‘the great Australian red’.

The film is a combination of live action, animation, graphics and stills – another innovative milestone for this pioneering Australian wine brand – and features an original musical score written by David Hirschfelder, one of Australia’s most distinguished screen-composers who has scored Hollywood blockbusters including Sliding Doors and Strictly Ballroom.

Following the official debut of the full length version of the Grange film at a VIP launch of
The Penfolds Collection 2015 at the China Pavilion in Shanghai on 15th October, the film is being released online via digital and social channels supported by a 30” cutdown and 15” trailer.
