I have worked and trained as an actor both here and in the United States for eight years, in this field communication is an absolutely essential part of successfully fulfilling your role. The job of an actor is to interpret emotion using your body as a tool, this not just limited to being able to communicate clearly, but to communicate with intention, tact, and emotional intelligence. As a performer you must have sensitivity to your own emotions and most importantly the emotions of those around you, so as to respond and react to them accordingly.
