About me
My present role
Title:
Commercial Features Editor /Editor
As editor of niche publications I am responsible for managing projects from initiation to completion, from working out the P&L to briefing designers, to commissioning content, to liaising with printers. This year I have produced 4, A5 mags, 3, 16page in-paper supplements and am currently working on a 24 page supplement for Charlton FC.
The quarterly, The Village, which I am editor of, is a semi-contract publication for the trading association in Blackheath.
My job involves meeting with clients, advertising departments, designers, printers and the group managing editor, the publisher and my editor. I often have to give presentations of ideas to a wide range of people from explaining the look and feel of a product to advertising reps to describing my content ideas to chief executives of large corporations.
I am also regularly in contact with high profile media figures - one of the latest projects involves Sharon Doughty from Channel Five news and Sir Trevor Macdonald.
As commercial features editor for the weekly newspaper I edit, sub and write when necessary news and features.
I work in various formats from tabloid newspaper to A4, A5 and American tabloid, using Quark and Photoshop, although I am able to use InDesign too.
I am responsible for a team of journalists and am part of the senior editorial management team. Because I work on a number of publications at once I am used to balancing work-loads
