The past 18 months or so have seen the creative industries recover from the recent recession at an astonishingly fast pace, at least from our point of view as recruiters it has. It is still very much a candidate-driven market and agencies are therefore finding that they are often in tough competition with other agencies for the best candidates. The good news for candidates then is that they are usually in a strong position but many candidates are nervous about, or inexperienced in negotiating. To read the full article, click here! |

Diego Maradona has it tattooed on his right arm. Mike Tyson on his stomach. Johnny Depp, Jay-Z and Carlos Santana have the t-shirt. Madonna tried to recreate it for an album cover. And right now, someone somewhere in the Middle East is wearing it defiantly. So what's with the image of Che Guevara and why do so many people feel so close it to. This week we have a guest post from Jo Clarke, a member of Creativepool. We received an email a couple of weeks back from Jo thanking us as well as one of our bloggers, Magnus Shaw. Jo had read a blog written by Magnus, and taking it's advice managed to fulfill her dream of becoming a copywriter after seven long years. Needless to say, we were chuffed to bits that she got in touch and thought it would be a good idea for Jo to share her experience with everyone. Luckily she agreed! Click the link below and you can read her guest blog detailing her journey to becoming a copywriter and how the content on Creativepool and personal advice from Magnus helped her along the way. What a drag. In defense of cigarette advertising

Filthy habit, smoking. Or so they say (I can think of filthier). But the fact remains, it is a filthy habit that is legal and tax-raising and while it remains so, why should the producers of tobacco be denied the same access to advertising enjoyed by makers of other indulgent goodies? Is it a moral question? A commercial point? Or a moral dilemma? Or all three? Here Magnus Shaw argues that smoking is matter of free choice for consenting adults and it is not for government to dictate which products we are exposed to. Read Magnus' post here |

We have recently been posting questions on Quora and have received great responses from other users - it's a great tool to get informationon a whole range of topics. One of the questions we posted was, "What are the most influential design blogs?" which returned over 70 replies from people in the industry, people were promoting their own blogs and but also suggesting great blogs that we were previously unaware of. We have also created a new question on Quora that we'd like you to get involved in. This time we'd like to hear what is the worst piece of design that has ever been done and why. At the moment the Reliant Robin is on top of the list, can you think of something worse than this? Click here to get involved in the debate |
