EESC 2011

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will be launching "the second edition of a competition to design an innovative, sustainable and creative design product, including packaging, with a strong civil society message". The competition is open to professional designers as well as design students from EU member states. Entrants can be either as part of team or individually-based. Apple overtakes Google as the world's most valuable brand

A study carried out by research company Millward Brown has revealed that Apple has overtaken Google as the most valuable brand in the world.   Apple's success in the rankings is largely thought to be attributed to the success of the IPad and IPad2. Antti Laitinen is barking mad

Finnish performance artist Antti Laitinen is due to unveil his latest exhibition at the Nettie Horn gallery this week. In his series of ridiculous and seemingly impossible solitary quests, sailing across the Baltic sea in a home made raft of bark is perhaps his most ambitious work to date. This week's blog looks back on his past achievements which include digging a big hole for 7 days, living naked in the forest for four days and making his own islands in the middle of the sea.
