ABOUT

BRIEF
Wearable Futures is a two-day conference exploring the future of wearables, from smart materials to new technologies. It looks at how technologically advanced materials can improve areas such as health, sustainability and how we interact with the world. The event is dynamic, with more than 50 expert speakers including designers, chemical engineers and a professional magician, in addition to interactive and immersive exhibitions. Our challenge was to create a visual identity for Wearable Futures, communicating its contemporary nature through design.

SOLUTION
Wearable technology is a glimpse into the future – a place that is inherently unknowable. We created a visual language designed to create intrigue and communicate the unknown, using pixels to fragment and change images, simultaneously revealing and hiding what lies underneath. By its nature this visual language acted as a perfect teaser for the event, generating a sense of mystery and expectation.

RESULT
We achieved the ‘wow’ factor we were looking for! For web, a combination of live-streaming, parallax scrolling and multi-layered design perfectly reflected the responsive qualities of the exhibition’s subject matter. Full CMS functionality meant organisers had full flexibility to edit the program of events up to the last minute, making the site dynamic and flexible. Printed collateral was equally stunning, with pixelated images and layers of eye-popping colour. Wearable Futures 2013 was a sell-out success, and we’re proud to have played our part.
