Global creative agency Arnold Worldwide announced recently the appointment of Jim Elliott to the new role of global chief creative officer, a role under which he will drive Arnold's creative product across the network from the agency's headquarters in Boston. The global creative role is a first for Arnold, which previously organised creative leadership by office. Elliot most recently served as chief creative officer at Y&R New York, and prior to this, he worked as group creative director and writer at Goodby Silverstein & Partners. Throughout his career he has created work for clients such as Land Rover, Dell, Virgin Atlantic, Hyundai, Haagen-Dazs, Denny's, HP, Yahoo! and Netflix, amongst others, work that has been nominated for countless industry awards.

Global president Pam Hamlin said the Arnold team is “Increasingly working on client engagements across the Arnold footprint,” and is looking to unify their creative vision. She feels that Elliot's “Strong global experience and outstanding creative credentials” will raise the bar for them, “Acting as powerful fuel to drive the Arnold brand forward.” Elliot himself, meanwhile, said that he was initially struck by the culture at Arnold, and the agency's ”Very real hunger, ambition and drive for greatness,” and to create “Innovative, world-class work, born of a genuine, deep-seated belief that great work works, and that great work builds brands and drives business.” He calls Hamlin a “Dream partner,” and a “Tremendous leader who inspires those around her and who has a very real and tenacious desire to create great work.”

 

McCann Worldgroup

McCann Worldgroup Detroit has appointed Lance Miller to the role of chief technology officer. In this role, he will lead the IT department, oversee the integration of existing and emerging technologies and build a cohesive infrastructure for the Worldgroup Detroit teams, Commonwealth//McCann global operations and their respective clients. He joins McCann from UltraLevel Inc, where he served as director of client services, overseeing the professional services, managed services and learning services business units. He has also spent time at MRM//McCann, most recently as senior VP, director of technology for the agency's global IT operations.

McCann Worldgroup Detroit has appointed Lance Miller as chief technology officer

Bill Kolb, chairman and CEO of MRM//McCann, said that Miller's “Extensive technical background and ability to build a strong team environment” is a true asset to the company. Based on his experiences with Miller when he was at MRM//McCann previously, he is confident the new CTO will “Be able to successfully drive technology strategy and direction by inventing and delivering new and effective solutions for employees and client global business.” Craig Smith, McCann Worldgroup's global chief information officer, adds that he feels Miller will help McCann “Chart a new course and develop a global vision” that will allow them to thrive in this “Dynamic age."

 

DDB Worldwide

DDB Worldwide announced this week that Icaro Doria has joined the agency as chief creative officer of the New York office, effective March. He'll report directly to DDB New York president/CEO Chris Brown, who assumed his role in September last year. Doria, who was most recently the founder and executive creative director of Wieden+Kennedy in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will be tasked with outlining a bold creative vision for DDB's New York office. He'll lead the agency's entire creative department and ensure that it maintains its pedigree of creative excellence, while inventing new, more nimble ways of working to generate better results for clients. Doria's career spans three continents and numerous top agencies such as Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, Y&R New York and Saatchi & Saatchi New York, where his work helped the agency to win "Agency of The Year" at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. He's been acknowledged by and judged every major industry award show, and topped Creativity's awards ranking as the "Most Awarded Copywriter in the World" in 2007.

Brown is excited for Doria to join the agency, calling him a “Modern creative leader with a passion for ideas and new and innovative ways of working.” He highlights Doria's history driving “Outstanding creative outcomes on some of the world's biggest brands” and building agencies from the ground up as primary reasons for his new appointment. An appointment which Brown hopes will solidify their mission to “Create game-changing work and business ideas” for their clients. He is confident that Doria will be “The perfect partner to help lead DDB New York into the future.” The man himself said “DDB has made its name around creating work that influences cultural shifts, and the opportunity to help DDB New York do just that is thrilling,” and something he couldn't say no to. He hopes that together with Brown and the rest of the team they will “Embark on the challenge of reinventing (the agency), while drawing on DDB's great legacy.”
