Story of the week: Cannes Lions

The Cannes Lions have opened their 2017 call for entries.

Agencies and brands are expected to compete for the same 24 categories as last year. The Lion is the ultimate benchmark of creative excellence. Cannes Lions juries set the standard for integrity, quality and neutrality, so that only the very best work wins.

Oddly enough, the most prestigious advertising awards competition still refers to one of its main categories as the Cyber category. It’s 2017, who still uses this term. Every other awards organisations call this category Interactive, Digital or Online.

Anyway, “Through the Dark” for Google Play Music by R/GA Sydney will be a strong candidate for the trophy, as the incredible immersive experience just won both the FWA of the Year 2016 & the FWA People’s Choice Award.
