REVOLT TV rebrands their inaugural "REVOLT Music Conference" as a "Media" Conference

Published by

Andre Harrell, vice chairman of REVOLT, the multi-genre, multi-platform network, recently announced that the "REVOLT Music Conference" is to be renamed the "REVOLT Media Conference," in recognition of the growing convergence of media and music. According to Harrell, the event, which will be taking place between Thursday the 16th and Sunday the 19th of October at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida, will focus on the confluence on music and media, as the two collide to “Deliver disruption in access, streaming, discovery and beyond.”

Harrell, who will also chair the event, says that "Social media, streaming and the growing list of Web-connected devices have had an undeniable effect on the music industry,” which in turn, has created more opportunities for fans, artists and brands to connect in entertaining, meaningful ways." He adds that those attending the conference “Should expect to not only hear about trends in music, but also hear how to leverage the power of music to engage audiences effectively across mediums." The hope is that those attendees will be leaving the conference with new, important contacts and a greater understanding of the process of monetising their clients through social media, product launching or endorsing, and new ways of distribution. Harrell feels that they “Will become better educated about the new record business and learn to increase revenues through music and media.”

Harrell himself is a bonafide entertainment powerhouse with countless credits spanning everything from TV and film and music and branding. He's been at the forefront of popular culture for almost four decades now, first as the founder of 'Uptown Records” and later as CEO of the legendary 'Motown Records'. He has worked with everyone from Sean Combs (otherwise known as “Puff Daddy,” “P Diddy” or simply “Diddy”) to Mary J. Blige, who he discovered back in the late 80's when she was just a teenager. He set the tone for the upcoming conference first by hand-picking speakers and now by broadening its focus, and promises that those attending will “Not only leave with a better idea of where the music industry is heading, but will also have the context of media overall, and how to successfully position their brands, artists and companies in the process.“

The conference will include speakers such as Craig Kallman, CEO of Atlantic Records, Ethiopia Habtemariam, the president of Motown (Harrell's old stomping ground), Benny Medina, CEO of The Medina Company and Epic Records' president Sylvia Rhone, amongst others, and has been designed to “Inspire thought-provoking discussions about navigating and understanding the evolution of the music business.” Those interested in attending the conference can now register for conference packages, which include access to panels, artist showcases, pool parties, a gala awards dinner, and weekend access to one of America's top clubs, LIV.
