The team is growing rapidly and looking for talented colleagues to help deliver ambitious and market leading services that live up to Sainsbury’s industry leading reputation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Senior User Experience Designer with real creative spark to play a key part in growing our online and digital identity. You’ll develop original creative digital concepts that deliver a harmonised, appealing look and feel. It’ll be up to you to come up with new features and design improvements across all our online/digital transactional properties – web, mobile, tablet and in-store screens across grocery, non-food, ebooks and entertainment. And you’ll work closely with designers, other UXers, developers and product teams.

As a Senior User Experience Designer you will:

  • Lead a small team of UX designers to define and create the UX of a key Sainsbury’s customer or colleague journey
  • Lead workshops defining the UX of a particular customer journey and guide stakeholders through that journey
  • Be responsible for defining the customer journey of key digital products and Sainsbury’s service
  • Deliver KPIs of increased basket conversion, brand perception, engagement and loyalty
  • Deliver our customer proposition, creating user experiences aligned with our strategic vision, allowing customers to shop whenever and however they choose
  • Leading user experience design with a data informed ‘test and learn’ approach
  • Define and implement UX guidelines from which to tailor solutions – it’s about making practical, insightful suggestions in-line with the product owner’s objectives and requirements
  • Define, develop and create the information architecture and content framework of entire Sainsbury’s digital journeys, creating an engaging, easy-to-use and best-in-class customer experience
  • Recommend improvements to data architecture processes
  • Coordinate data architecture project resources
  • Anticipate obstacles and plan accordingly
  • Align information architecture with enterprise architecture by selecting appropriate tools and techniques for information capture
  • Determine transition strategy from current to new architecture
  • Use a range of inputs including interaction, brand principles, analytics, customer feedback, usability testing, technology and business requirements to develop informed and logical solutions
  • Understand technical considerations with the assistance of the UX Lead, developers and third party agencies
  • Ensure a level of detail within UX materials that enables them to be shared with co-located and remote team colleagues
  • Make sure the right person is assigned to each stage of a project

You will need to have:

  • A broad portfolio of IA work
  • Proven knowledge of user research/focus groups, including card sorting, interview scripts, prototypes, interviews and trialling new concepts with customers
  • Multi-platform UX for B2C ecommerce experience
  • A background in competitor analysis, audit and concept pitches
  • User flow and persona knowledge
  • Expertise in information structuring and task modelling
  • The ability to develop detailed wireframes that incorporate all technical, editorial and usability specifications and proficiency in either Microsoft Visio, Omnigraffie or Axure
  • Prototype and storyboard building experience
  • Understanding of how your work feeds into and shapes the customer experience
  • Knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript and Flash, as well as native applications like iOS, Android and Windows
  • UI behaviours/interaction understanding
  • Usability research experience
  • Fantastic creativity and problem solving skills
  • A thorough technical understanding of inclusive design frameworks
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork and user advocacy skills
