Designer for a team of writers
We're Quietroom. We’re looking for a visual collaborator who can make our words look beautiful.
This is not a job ad. But it is a great opportunity for an experienced designer looking for clients and a workspace. We’re based in Clerkenwell.
We’re a team of writers without any in-house design capacity. When we have a project that requires a visual element, whether it’s for ourselves or for a client, we bring in a designer. This could be for print, animation, a presentation or a video. Things would work better if we had a designer in-house. This person wouldn’t be able to cover every discipline we might need, but we’d have somebody who thinks visually - hence the term ‘visual collaborator’.
Here’s what we’re offering
- Work with our clients - big banks, insurance companies, health providers, government departments and high street names. For this work we’ll pay you an agreed hourly rate. This might be a day a week to start off with. But if we can offer design services to our clients, work will grow.
- Space and studio support (printer, internet, phone, kitchen, meeting room). In return you’ll do a few hours a week for us free of charge. A few hours will not cover all our needs. When we go over these few hours, we’ll pay you at an agreed rate.
We work in a lovely open and light office, filled with 12 even lovelier people and a dog.
We’re looking for somebody who has two or more of the following skill sets:
- Graphic design (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator)
- Animation and illustration
- Presentation (PowerPoint/Keynote)
- Video production (Final Cut)
- Illustration and visualisation
- Digital and web design
This could be perfect for a midweight/senior person who wants to build a client base without having to do a lot of selling, and who wants to be part of a lively creative agency. We expect you to already have some of your own clients and we’ll introduce you to more.
A bit more about us
Quietroom are a team of writers, trainers and strategists. We exist to make money, health, energy and society more meaningful to more people. We do that by helping organisations write and talk in a way that’s clear, vivid and real - so their story makes sense, their ideas come to life and their message sticks.
We use animations to explain tricky concepts - like our popular animations about investment risk. We also produced the award-winning Santa* Brand, which has been viewed by over 1 million people (search 'Santa Brand'). When we produce content like this it leads to more work, which is why we want to do more of it.
Our clients include HSBC, AXA, Vitality, TSB, Irish Life, Bank of Ireland, Which? Lloyds, KPMG, Trainline, not on the high street, Spareroom, Channel 4, Virgin Atlantic, and Whitbread, Diabetes UK, Institute of Cancer Research, Bupa, HM Treasury, The Home Office and The National Theatre.
