Digital Video is an important platform for BBC News, alongside television, radio and text. On the BBC website, social media and the new Videos of the Day mobile app, audiences for digital video are increasing. Offering new and innovative ways of telling our stories, and through those platforms reaching new, younger and underserved audiences, Digital Video will become a key part of BBC News.
This new team will produce Digital Video content for all of our News platforms, across the website, social and the app. It will play an important role in reaching underserved audiences.Role Responsibility
The Assistant Editors will shape the day's agenda and lead the delivery of the best and most interesting stories to UK and global audiences and ensure output meets BBC editorial standards.
You will be expected to work with other teams in the Newsroom and beyond to offer our digital audiences the best of the BBC's journalism.
You will need to be open to new ideas, show how you can quickly adapt to changing circumstances and relish new challenges.The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a senior journalist who has a strong understanding of what makes good digital video and how to produce it as well as familiarity with audience behaviour on a range of digital platforms.
You will have sound editorial judgement, an understanding of the news agenda and an ability to identify the right format for each story. Sharp editing skills are an essential requirement as is the ability to respond to breaking news. You will also have experience of leading a team and need to enjoy working under pressure as well as the challenges posed by a fast-changing digital landscape.
You will need to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of digital platforms and analytics, as well as excellent video editing skills with experience of using Q-edit or FCPX.Package Description
Contract: 6 months Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave
