Who is Creativepool for?

Creativepool is for people who work in the UK's creative industries including the advertising, design and creative sectors.
From flash animators to mac monkeys, illustrators to account executives, if you work in a creative environment then Creativepool is definitely worth a look.

What is Creativepool's aim?

To be the UK's premier creative resource directory. We aim to provide a platform for creatives from all disciplines to find work. By providing a service where employees and employers have direct access to each other and a one-stop shop for employment agencies to find suitable candidates.

Why should I register?

By joining Creativepool you'll be putting yourself into the show window of the creative world. Not only can you apply for jobs online but your CV and portfolio can also be made searchable for all of our recruiters. Creativepool is the UK's largest creative database with over 40,000 registered users on the site and more than 3,000 businesses searching through our candidates CVs and portfolios online.

How much does Creativepool cost?

Creativepool is completely FREE for candidates! There is no cost to upload your CV, portfolio and showreel. Aren't we nice?

Never search for a job again!

Creativepool is the most comprehensive and advanced creative job site in the UK. Once you've placed your profile online, we attract employers to find you. I haven't received a confirmation email from Creativepool. What do I need to do?

If you are using a Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail account, you may have to adjust your filter settings. In some accounts, our confirmation emails will appear in junk (Hotmail) or spam (Gmail and Yahoo) folders.

To retrieve these, just go into the relevant area and open the email from Creativepool. At the top, click on 'mark as safe' (Hotmail) or 'not spam' (Gmail and Yahoo). This should move the email in question to your regular inbox. Any future emails from us should now appear in your inbox.

If you still can't find the confirmation email from Creativepool, then you'll need to open up your email settings and adjust them accordingly. See below for instructions:

Hotmail

Click on 'options' in the top right hand corner of your screen, then select 'more options' (it should be the bottom one). Under 'Junk Mail', click on 'filters and reporting'. On the second level of options, change the setting 'delete junk mail'  from 'immediately' to 'Later'. Next, go back to the options menu and under 'junk mail', click on 'safe and blocked senders'. Then, click on 'safe senders'. Once in this screen, add 'accounts@creativepool.co.uk' into the field and click the 'add to list' tab.

This should then allow our Creativepool emails into your inbox.

Gmail and Yahoo

You shouldn't experience the same level of problems with these accounts but if you do, go to the 'filters' or 'settings' areas and you should be able to work out what you need to click on from the above Hotmail example.

I've forgotten my password. How do I log in?

Click on the login button and in this is the password recovery form. We'll ask you to enter your email address and then we'll send your username and password to your inbox.

If it doesn't appear and you use a free mail service (yahoo, hotmail etc) then check in your bulk email folder. Sometimes automated emails can be viewed as spam from enthusiastic mail programmes.

I have been emailed a new password. Can I change it?

All the details held by Creativepool can be changed by logging in to your account.

I don't want to log in everytime. Where can I set the site to remember me?

When you login to Creativepool, just click the tick box that says "remember me on this computer" and we'll then remember your details automatically. Clicking this on will mean you will never need to log on to the site again so be careful that you don't do this on a public computer!

Who sees my Creativepool profile?

Candidates
Creativepool holds your CV in our secure database. Only employers who have registered their details and paid creativepool a fee to use the employee search facility can browse through our users CVs.

Creativepool also makes a generic version of your CV available to be searched by internet search engines such as google. This version of the CV can be viewed by clicking on the number next to the employees on the homepage.

This "public" version doesn't show your full name (only your first name), any of your contact details or your CV.

This "public version" does show your introduction, your quick profile, your references and a link to your portfolio and showreel (if you have one).

Freelancers
Everything on your freelance profile is open to the public, your CV, portfolio, showreel and any text that you enter onto the website. Do not discolse anything that you do not want to be found on the internet.

I'm having issues applying for jobs. What do I need to do?

To apply for jobs on Creativepool you need to have done the following 2 things:

1. Filled out your Account Details
2. Uploaded a CV

These details can be changed at any time on Creativepool. Log into your account and click on "edit my details" then check through your profile to make sure you've completed the relevant sections.

How do I apply for jobs from the emails you send me?

In every auto-alert email we send out there's a link that relates to the job in question. Click on this link and you'll be taken to the job so you can apply for it online.

If you are having problems with it then copy and paste the full URL address into your browser. If you are still having problems, don't panic, you can log on to the site and browse through the jobs on the jobs board or click on the "search for a job tab".

What gets sent along to an employer once I apply for a job?

Everyone on Creativepool who wants to apply for a job needs to have at least uploaded their CV. Once you've found a job you like the look of and have clicked apply, a copy of your CV (along with the quick profile information and a link to your portfolio and showreel if you've uploaded one) will be automatically sent straight to the recruiter who has posted the job.

I'm a recent graduate, do you have jobs for me?

Creativepool is a great place for you to start your creative career. We quite often have junior positions advertised on the site and employers can put up work experience roles for free. However, most of these junior roles are hand picked by employers searching through our profiles so make sure that the work you have uploaded is of a very high standard. If you are looking for a design job then take a look at our finding a design job section.

Note: We do monitor profiles quite closely so please don't apply for jobs that are outside of you experience. Read a job carefully and don't waste an employers time. Unless you are of a high enough standard your profile may be removed.

Is it possible to have more than 10 images in your portfolio?

Candidates
There is no limit on the number of images that you can have on your portfolio.

Freelancers
Free accounts are limited to 10 images. Professional versions of the site have no limit and can be bought for as little as £9.95 a month.

How do I get stars on my profile and what do they mean?

The stars on some users profiles are from feedback requests that have been attached to their profile from previous employers. They're tied in with the feedback section on our users profiles and are a great tool for users (especially freelancers) to market themselves on the site.

How do I get a feedback attached to my profile?

To get a previous employer to leave an online reference and add some stars to your profile, log on to Creativepool and click on the Feedback/References. Fill out the information required to send the request. After you've filled this out an email will be sent to your designated referee who will then be able to register on the site and leave you some feedback.

I need to edit my details, where do I do this?

Log in to your account from the homepage and click on 'edit my details' on the left hand menu bar. From the edit my details section you have access to (and can change) all of the details held by Creativepool except for your username. This includes being able to upload a new CV, change your portfolio images and any other detail involved with your profile.

I can't upload my CV?

Creativepool accepts only two types of CV - pdfs and Word documents. You will need to have uploaded a CV to apply for jobs on creativepool.

Your CV needs to be under 1 meg in size. If you are having problems uploading then often the issue can be sorted by adding ".pdf" or ".doc" after the filename.

For example, if you have a Word document called "MyCV" then change the filename to "MyCV.doc". If it's a pdf , change it to "MyCV.pdf". The filename length should not be longer than 10 characters. Once you have clicked browse and found your CV, be sure to then click the upload button next. Your CV's name should then upload to our servers and the name be displayed underneath the browse text box.

I can't upload my portfolio?

Creativepool can only accept images if they are in rgb format and under 2mb. For the best results images should be no bigger than 1000 x 1000 pixels. Sometimes you can get issues with uploading your jpegs if they are not named correctly. Images should end with ".jpg" be RGB and the filename should not be longer than 10 characters.

The emails I receive do not seem to be relevant for the job I am looking for.
How do I change this?

Creativepool's job auto-alerts are governed by what you have filled out in the job alert section of your profile. When a job is added to Creativepool, the employer can go through and click on the categories that they think is most relevant to their job vacancy. They get to see exactly the same list as you are presented with when you fill out your details.

If you have entered that you are looking for a' Graphic Design job in Central London', then you should only get emailed these types of jobs.
If you are looking for a 'Graphic Design Job in the UK' - then obviously you will get a lot more emails. If you just put in 'designer in the UK', you will get hundreds of emails!

Changing your auto-alert preferences

Simply log into your account and click on "edit job alerts" in your dashboard.

How do I stop receiving job auto-alerts?

Simply log into your account and click on "edit job alerts" in your dashboard.

 

I'd like to make myself unavailable

Log into your account - you should be on your homepage. Here, you should be able to see "your status" - click on availability. Set this to unavailable or unavailable till (the unavailable till prompts you for a date) - this will stop all auto-alert emails and marks your CV as unavailable. You account is left open and you can change it at any time.

I'd like to remove my details from Creativepool

All of your email options and details can be controlled by the unsubscribe page.
