Born out of Nike’s growing commitment to deliver premium, 1-to-1 experiences for members at scale, Nike+ Trial Zone is an innovative, digital platform dedicated to product trailing. Created by AKQA's Portland office, it launched as the pinnacle experience within the brand new Nike Flagship Store in SoHo, New York.
 
On an immersive basketball court consumers run drills guided by full-body motion tracking, designed to elevate key product innovations, ensuring they find the perfect shoes for their style of play. They can even put their new kicks to the test, becoming the star during iconic basketball moments like winning the NBA championship while playing the ‘Buzzer Beater’ game. Meanwhile, runners can take their new shoes for their first run at legendary NYC running locations like Central Park and Battery Park without ever leaving the store. The immersive Nike+ Trial Zone running experiences wrap the consumer in 180° screens that seamlessly replicate a first person POV of a runner in a real environment.
 
The interactive spaces are equipped with high-definition, multi-screen arrays, motion sensors, playback cameras and directional speakers — and each space is operated by Nike store athletes using the Nike+ Trial Zone iOS controller app. Nike+ Trial Zone launched in SoHo, New York in November 2016 and will roll out globally across Nike’s full retail fleet. Beijing, Paris and Miami are set to launch in early 2017.
