ABOUT

Hammerhead VR were invited to be part of a Global IBM Watson Hackathon: the challenge was steep, two days to bring Watson into a VR world exploring the role of Cognitive in VR.

How could this concept be presented, what’s the idea, what would the experience be for a consumer and can we build something in only two days?

After quickly exploring several ideas, we settled on creating an inflight entertainment experience, building a Sci-Fi inspired lobby where you and Watson hang out, interact, and together craft your flight experience like what entertainment to watch, what and when to eat as well as some games to help pass the time in flight.

We took it a step further and used Cognitive to layer a customer’s personality and interests to inform the experience. An inflight entertainment lobby gave us a futuristic scenario where we could control the environment, present a possible future use case to see Watson in full swing and we even gave Watson a distinct personality with the idea it would change with each customer, informed by their data.

Chris Hay, IBMiX digital channels architect and associate partner, said “We challenged Hammerhead to produce a next generation VR experience as part of a hackathon and they only went and did it, over a weekend- truly amazing! The experience is funny, inspiring, and shows the art of the possible in such a small time in a hack environment.”
